Penn State Board of Trustees Election: Voting Begins as 86 Candidates Vie for Three Seats

by on April 10, 2012 6:00 AM

Election season is here — Penn State style.

University alumni can start casting ballots Tuesday for three open alumni seats on the Board of Trustees. Voting runs through 9 a.m. May 3, with results announced at the Board of Trustees meeting the next day.

A record-number 86 candidates are vying for seats on the university’s governing body, most seeking change after the way the board handled the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that resulted in the dismissals of football coach Joe Paterno and president Graham Spanier.

Those elected will serve three-year terms, starting July 1.
