Penn State Creates Hotline to Handle Abuse Reports
by on November 28, 2011 4:28 PM

The Penn State Office of Student Affairs has established a new hotline to handle reports of abuse, the university announced Monday.

Called the university Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Hotline, the line was activated Monday, according to a news release. It's run by the firm ProtoCall.

"Provision of this service is an additional part of Penn State's commitment to make sure victims and observers of victimization have access to a full spectrum of campus and community resources," Peggy Lorah said in the news release. She runs the Center for Women Students at University Park.

The seven-day, 24-hour hotline is (800) 550-7575 (TTY (866) 714-7177); it's available for all Penn State campuses.

"At University Park, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services will work with the hotline to assist those who are in need of help," the news release reads. "Since on-campus support services for abuse victims are limited at the (other) campuses, this arrangement will make appropriate referrals to services available in their local communities."

The complete Penn State release is available via Penn State Live.
