Penn State Football: 2015 Recruiting Class Packs Balance, Talent, And Room For Growth

by on April 19, 2014 7:15 AM

The 2015 recruiting class is ranked No.1 in the nation -- for now at least -- and it's safe to say that nobody will be questioning Penn State's ability to recruit under head coach James Franklin.

But who makes up the 2015 recruiting class so far? It's easy to get excited as the commitments come in, but looking at the class as a whole can show a more complete picture of the talent slated to join the Nittany Lions a year down the road.

For one, the class is balanced. Six offensive players and six defensive players make up the recruiting haul so far with a mixture of positions on each side of the ball.

In total, nine different position are represented with receivers, running backs, and defensive ends being the only positions represented more than once. Three players will make their home on the defensive line, two on the offensive line, and two linebackers will join the ranks at Linebacker-U.

With many months between now and National Signing Day, Penn State's 2015 recruiting class is still very much a work in progress. Even so, it's easy to see why fans are excited and why national observers are turning their heads to take a look at what Franklin and his staff are putting together during their first season at Penn State.

Winning down the road will unquestionably help continue the explosive start to Franklin's run on the recruiting trail. For now fans can just sit back and enjoy the fruits of Franklin's labors.
