Less than 24 hours after the completion of 2017 National Signing Day, Penn State added another to an already quickly filling 2018 recruiting class.

The recruit in question, PA native and three-star linebacker Charlie Katshir. The commit giving Penn State its eighth of the 2018 class and the first (and likely only) on James Franklin's birthday.

Katshir, a Cumberland Valley High School star out of Mechanicsburg, Pa., chose to play for the Nittany Lions ahead of other offers from Pitt, Rutgers, West Virginia, Boston College, and Virginia.

Listed as the No. 38 best linebacker in the country and the No. 15 best player in the state. On the scale he comes in at 6-foot-3 and 198 pounds. Katshir is a friend of fellow 2018 commit, the nation’s top rated tight end Zack Kuntz.

With an eighth commitment Penn State's 2018 haul maintains its standing as the nation's best, still early in the cycle according to the 247 Network composite rankings. Half of the current recruiting stable is from Pennsylvania, highlighted by five-star defensive end Micah Parsons out of Harrisburg.
