Penn State Football: 332 Campers Mark Opening Day of Nittanyville
One of the great spectacles in all of college sports started up again Wednesday night with the first Nittanyville camp out, outside Beaver Stadium's Gate A.
According to Nittanyville President Allen Sheffield, the first night has been a successful one with 332 campers and 43 groups registered for the week. Students register online and can do so beyond the first night of the camp out.
After setting up tents at 11:00 p.m. students circled together singing fight songs and cheers before finishing with the alma mater.
Most Nittanyville camp outs begin late Wednesday night with the exception of the week prior to one home game when the camp-out runs for a week. Nittanyville organizers believe the camp-out prior to Penn State's night showdown against Michigan will be a week long event.
"Welcome to Nittanyville everyone," Sheffield said. "It's going to be a great week and a great season."
