Penn State Football: 4,000 New Season Tickets Sold As Franklin Era Sets To Begin

by on June 04, 2014 11:30 AM

Penn State head coach James Franklin has been selling a vision of a new and improved football program and it appears that a growing number of fans are buying into the campaign.

The university says 4,000 new season tickets have been purchased for the 2014 campaign.

Of these 4,000 new ticket holders 600 are taking advantage of the recent graduate program season tickets. Those seats are located in the North Upper Deck, in Sections NAU-NLU.

Penn State has seen attendance decline over the past several seasons with the 10 smallest crowds in post stadium expansion era coming since 2011. Even so, the 96,587 per game average was still good enough to give the Nittany Lions the fifth best attendance mark in the nation following the 2013 season.

With season ticket renewals still ongoing it remains to be seen how the 4,000 new ticket holders will impact overall attendance figures, but according to a Penn State spokesperson renewal rates are generally around 91-95 percent. All things considered it looks as though Penn State will finally start to reverse a downward attendance trend as the Nittany Lions inch closer and closer to games that will impact conference title races and postseason play.

Additionally, Penn State students will have a chance to check out the action as their season tickets go on sale at the end of the month.
