Penn State Football: Barber Finally On Campus

by on August 16, 2017 2:08 PM

Four-star freshman defensive end Damion Barber tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he was finally in Happy Valley, rounding out Penn State's incoming class of new faces.

The news was expected as coach James Franklin noted at media day that the team was expecting Barber to report to camp after receiving "good news" earlier in the week.

While Penn State generally doesn't divulge student-athlete specific details, given the timing and nature of his absence, it's safe to assume Barber's late arrival was related to his eligibility.

Where Barber fits in the mix at a defensive end position in need of proven depth remains to be seen. Penn State is set to open the season in 17 days, which will give the newest Nittany Lion little time to acclimate to his new surroundings.

James Franklin is set to speak to the media following Wednesday's evening practice.
