Penn State Football: Barkley and Co. Grab First-Team Honors, Walter Camp Nod

The second wave of Big Ten awards are out and some of your favorite Nittany Lions are taking home first-team honors.

Junior running back Saquon Barkley collects his second-straight first-team All-Big Ten award, while senior tight end Mike Gesicki garners first-team all-conference accolades from the media and second team honors from the coaches to lead the Penn State All-Big Ten contingent on offense.

Joining Barkley and Gesicki on the All-Big Ten offensive team are junior quarterback Trace McSorley (second team – coaches & media), senior wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton (second team - coaches; third team - media), sophomore offensive lineman Ryan Bates (third team - coaches & media) and sophomore wide receiver Juwan Johnson (honorable mention - coaches & media).

Yesterday the defensive awards were announced with Marcus Allen taking home first-team honors.

Joining Allen on the All-Big Ten defensive team are senior linebacker Jason Cabinda (second team - coaches; honorable mention - media), junior cornerback Amani Oruwariye, who was second team pick by the coaches and media, and sophomore defensive end Shareef Miller (third team - media; honorable mention - coaches). Additionally, on the Big Ten honorable mention squad are Troy Apke (media), Christian Campbell (coaches & media), Curtis Cothran (coaches), Parker Cothren(media) and Grant Haley (coaches & media).

Barkley was also named an first-team return man and was named the Walter Camp Player of The Year finalist. Barkley is a finalist alongside Lamar Jackson of Louisville, Bryce Love of Stanford, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma and Rashaad Penny of San Diego State
