Penn State Football: Barkley Gets Workout In With Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott

by on March 30, 2017 11:50 AM

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley isn't in the NFL just yet (give him time though) but that doesn't means he hasn't caught a glimpse of what it takes to compete at the next level.

Specifically, a trip to Orlando this offseason with teammates Marcus Allen, DaeSean Hamilton and Mark Allen that resulted in working out with Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Dak Prescott.

“Just to be out there and talk to those type of guys [Prescott] that know what it takes to make it there is really good,” Marus Allen said. “People want to get that type of knowledge from guys like that so you can put it in your game out here. Do extra stuff that they would be doing so you will be ready, and he gives you tips.”

The best part for all four players, they had no idea he was going to be there. It's one thing to get a workout in with a few trainers in the sunny skies of Florida, it's another to do it with one of the hottest names in the NFL.

“It was pretty cool, it was really cool actually to work out with Dak Prescott,” Barkley said. “Talk to him and see the knowledge that he knows from the game and what he learned from his first year, especially being on a team with guys like [Dez Bryant] and [Ezekiel Elliott].”

“But basically how to be a leader, how to lead a team, how to come to practice every single day and how to be a pro pretty much," Barkley added. “Obviously I’m still in college, but you can be a pro about your body, and a pro about how you approach practice and how you try to be a leader and overall become a better player.”

How much longer Barkley is in college remains to be seen, but with Top 10 placement in 2017-18 Mock Drafts one has to imagine it won't be long before he's lining up on the opposing sideline from Prescott.

At which point the Dallas quarterback might regret some of those tips he gave Barkley.
