Penn State Football: Beaver Stadium Logos To Light Up Sky Tuesday

by and on June 17, 2014 6:40 PM

For the first time, the LED Nittany Lion logos that adorn the Beaver Stadium scoreboards will be lit up tonight at 9 p.m.

It should be an impressive sight – according to Penn State, the logos are 35 feet wide, 25 feet tall, and 18 inches thick. Each is equipped with about 1,400 LED lights that will be visible from miles away. The white part of the logo will be lit up, giving the illusion that the lion is floating, according to the press release.

After tonight’s lighting, the logos will be lit every night at dusk and turned off at 11 p.m. During home football games, the logos will be kept on until the parking lot lights go off.

The logos are part of new 156-foot wide, 42-foot tall videoboards being installed at Beaver Stadium. The scoreboards will be finished before Penn State’s 2014 home opener against Akron on Sept. 6.
