After dropping the 2009 White House game to Iowa, Penn State will have to wait for 2011 to seek redemption before 110,000 white-clad fans, Paternoville President Alex Cohen said.

Cohen, citing a high-ranking official within the athletic department, confirmed in a text message that the next White House game will be Sept. 10, 2011, against Alabama.

“The White House is a tradition that everyone can agree should be saved for only certain games and certain opponents,” Cohen wrote in a text.

Due to what Cohen referred to as a “misprint” on the 2010 Temple ticket, rumors started yesterday that the Sept. 25 match-up against the Owls would be this season’s featured game. Printed on the ticket was “Everyone Wear White,” Cohen said.

The first White House game took place during the 2007 season during the highly anticipated match-up with Notre Dame. Ever since, the White House has been an annual event at Beaver Stadium, with 2008 game against Illinois and last year’s stunning loss to the Hawkeyes.

“We were told by the athletic department some time ago that there would probably be no White House game this season,” Paternoville Coordination Committee Vice President John Tecce wrote in a text message. “So we were fairly surprised yesterday when news came out that it was printed on the Temple ticket to wear white.”

However, Tecce said he is OK with putting the White House on hold until 2011, saying that by saving the White House for bigger games, the event keeps its luster.
