Penn State Football: Breneman Headed To UMass For One Final Shot At Football

Adam Breneman isn't ready to let his football career go just yet, announcing on Tuesday night that he will play for the University of Massachusetts. He will get his Masters in Business while playing for the Minutemen.

“I realized I still have the drive, talent and desire to play the game of football at a high level,” Breneman said in a statement on Twitter. “After consultations with trainers and doctors and a lot of hard work in the gym I have decided to continue my football career, hopefully for years to come.”

Knee injuries plagued Breneman throughout his playing career at Penn State before finally graduating this past December.

A once highly touted recruit, the former Nittany Lion tight end was one of the key commitments for Penn State's first recruiting class following the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Both he and former quarterback Christian Hackenberg were crucial to keeping that class intact.

Breneman will join former high school quarterback Andrew Ford at UMass and former Nittany Lion quarterback Austin Whipple who walked-on at Penn State before eventually transferring.

“I will always treasure my time at Penn State and the support the fans, coaches and teammates have given me as I chase my dream of playing football at the top level. I will bleed blue and white forever and I will always be proud of the battles we won at PSU on and off the field.”
