Penn State Football: DaeSean Hamilton Selected By Denver In Fourth Round

Former Penn State receiver DaeSean Hamilton was the latest Nittany Lion to hear his name called during the NFL Draft as the Virginia native was selected 113th overall by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round on Saturday.

Hamilton left Penn State after a career not short on highs and lows, most recently a high as Hamilton became one of the most sure-handed targets in program history hauling down 53 receptions to make it four straight seasons with 34 or more catches.

His freshmen campaign was his most prolific with Hamilton catching 82 passes from then quarterback Christian Hackenberg, best in the Big Ten that season.

Hamilton is ranked 19th all-time in Big Ten receiving yardage with 2,842 yards to his name and was Top 5 in the conference on the year twice during his collegiate career. His 214 career receptions rank 8th all time in the Big Ten.

He is the third Nittany Lion to be selected during the draft so far with Mike Gesicki coming in at No. 42 and Saquon Barkley drafted second overall. Safety Troy Apke was selected earlier in the round as well.

Much like Apke, Hamilton's stock rose drastically during the draft process where he impressed scouts with his hands, and route running ability in addition to his notorious work ethic.

Hamilton may never been the biggest or the fastest, but Saturday marks the first step in what figures to be a productive NFL career.
