Penn State Football: David Corley Let Go As Receivers Coach

ORLANDO, Fla. — Penn State football has parted ways with receivers coach David Corley. The program announced the news Wednesday afternoon, the day following the Nittany Lions’ 27-24 loss to Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl.

“I appreciate David’s efforts this season but feel it is in our program’s best interest to make a change at this time. I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future,” James Franklin said in a statement.

Corley, who was originally hired to coach running backs, oversaw a position group that struggled all year with over 35 drops. Corley was moved from running backs to receivers following the hiring of Ja’Juan Seider prior to the season. Both were added to the staff following the departures of receivers coach Josh Gattis to Alabama and running backs coach Charles Huff to Mississippi State last offseason.

KJ Hamler led Penn State with 713 yards receiving.

A national search for Corley’s replacement is underway.
