Penn State Football: Defensive End Makes For Latest 2020 Commit

by on July 05, 2019 2:55 PM

Penn State's 2020 class is now 20 prospects deep as Bryce Mostella, defensive end from Grand Rapids, Mich., verbally committed Friday afternoon.

Mostella tabbed the Nittany Lions over the likes of Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota among other schools. At 6-foot-5, 235-pounds, he is rated the 16th best defensive end in the class according to the 247 Network, a three-star prospect overall in the composite rankings while 247 rates him a four-star product.

In total Penn State is now looking at a 2020 class with seven defensive linemen. Motella will join a host of other defensive prospects including four-stars Cole Brevard, Coziah Izzard, and Amin Vanover along with three-stars Fatorma Mulbah and Brandon Taylor.

Mostella is the 14th player to verbally commit to Penn State since the beginning of June, and the 12th to do so since June 21.

While the numbers are rarely official and subject to various changes, on paper Penn State finds itself with room for five more commitments in the 2020 class. The Nittany Lions continue to hold steady at No.10 in the nation and No.3 in the Big Ten.

With both the early signing period and national signing day still months away, plenty can change, both for good and bad for the Nittany Lions, as the recruiting cycle is never truly over until each prospect steps on campus.
