Penn State Football: Derek Day Gets Nod at Running Back for Saturday's Game at Virginia

by on September 06, 2012 8:08 PM

Senior running back Derek Day will get his first career start Saturday at Virginia, Bill O'Brien said Thursday night.

Speaking on his weekly radio show, O'Brien also hinted at several more personnel decisions to watch for in Virginia. Guard Eric Shrive and Angelo Mangiro, who was seeing work with the twos at center and guard, could also play Saturday. Expect Zach Zwinak and Curtis Dukes to spell Day in the backfield.

Day fills in for Bill Belton, who left Saturday's 24-14 loss to Ohio in the second half with a sprained ankle.

“I'm not sure if Billy will be able to go Saturday,” O'Brien said.
