Penn State Football: Five-Star Settle Highlights Recruiting Weekend
Penn State football's 2015 recruiting class is one of the best in the nation.
This collection of top talent culminated in what was at least once considered to be the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.
Now ranked "only" No. 4 in the nation, James Franklin and his staff are still waiting for the icing on the cake, a five-star commitment.
Virginia defensive tackle Tim Settle might just be that recruit.
A five star prospect according to the 247 recruiting network, Settle is in town Friday, tweeting out photos and comments about his visit (that you can read here). Considered by many to be favored to go to Clemson, Alabama, or Tennessee, Settle is certainly far from a lock to play in the Blue and White. Settle clocks in at 6-foot-3, 318 pounds and would be a formidable force along any defensive front.
Even though it might take a little work to get Settle to settle into Happy Valley, as Franklin start the second camp of the summer Settle will get a good taste of what it's like to work with Penn State's staff. Settle won't be taking part in Friday's junior elite camp, but he'll be taking it all in from the Lasch and Holuba Hall sidelines.
This weekend will also mark the latest edition of the "Lasch Bash" a BBQ style cookout with most all of the 2015 committed recruits, prospects and the Penn State staff. Settle might not be swayed by a few hots dogs and hamburgers, but the family atmosphere and friendly nature of the bash has made an impact on more than a handful of recruits over the past few offseasons.
Even if Franklin and company can't land that elusive five-star recruit, it's still safe to say that his first recruiting class in Happy Vally has been a roaring success.
