Penn State Football: Franklin And Staff Offer Nation's Top Prospect
James Franklin and his staff took a step towards making Penn State's 2015 recruiting class one of the nation's best on Monday, offering Trenton Thompson a scholarship according to Thompson's twitter account.
"Offer by Penn State," Thompson tweeted. "I like them a lot and they're one of the college I (had) been wanted to offer me. I'm going to look at them some more."
The 6-foot-4, 293 pound defensive tackle out of Albany, Georgia is rated as the nation's top prospect by Rivals.com and other recruiting services. Thompson currently holds offers from 13 schools, a number that could very well triple by the end of his recruitment.
Only days after picking up two four-star recruits for the 2015 class, Franklin hasn't slowed down at all as he continues to offer prospects across the nation. Thompson's genuine interest is hard to gauge by social media alone. Recruits will often overplay interest for more followers and social media interactions. That being said, any mention of a program by a top prospect is positive news for that coaching staff.

If Penn State was able to schedule a visit from Thompson it might go a long way toward landing Thompson's services. Until then, Franklin and his staff have simply thrown their names into the hat and can only hope that Thompson is considering the Nittany Lions.
