Penn State Football: Franklin Named To East Stroudsburg Hall Of Fame

After a standout career as a quarterback, Penn State head coach James Franklin has been selected to the East Stroudsburg Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 2016 class. Franklin and the other members of the class will be honored on October 15, 2016 as part of ESU’s Homecoming Weekend activities.

The inductees will also be recognized during halftime of the Warriors’ home football game vs. Kutztown, which kicks off at 7:05 p.m. and will be televised as the NCAA Division II game of the week by the American Sports Network.

Franklin was a four-year letterman at quarterback and a two-time All-PSAC selection at East Stroudsburg. He set seven school records as a senior to earn team MVP honors and was a Harlon Hill Trophy nominee as the NCAA Division II Player of the Year. Among the season records Franklin set were for total offense (3,128 yards), passing yards (2,586) and touchdown passes (19). He graduated having broken or tied 23 school records.

Joining Franklin the 39th East Stroudsburg Athletic Hall of Fame Class are Frank Miriello ’67 (football), Mike Seip ’79 (swimming), Curtis Bunch ’91 (football), Ed Urie ’95 (basketball), Rachel Miller Smith ’02 (field hockey), Justina Woolf Kubat ’02 (soccer) and Barry Krammes ’04 (track & field), along with the 2000 men’s soccer team which reached the NCAA Division II semifinals. Urie will be inducted posthumously.
