Penn State Football: Game Day Preview

Good morning Penn State fans!

The Penn State football team is set to take on Akron today at noon in James Franklin’s first home game as head coach. Both teams won their first games last weekend and are coming into the matchup undefeated. The Nittany Lions beat UCF 26-24 in James Franklin’s debut last weekend in Dublin, Ireland. Sam Ficken was 4-4 on field goals, including the game-winner as time expired. Christian Hackenberg broke Zack Mills’ single-game passing record, throwing for 454 yards. Akron defeated Howard University last weekend 41-0 behind quarterback Kyle Pohl’s 308 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Below is all of the media information you’ll need for Saturday’s game:

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Eastern time

Television: Either ABC or ESPN2 — Mike Patrick, Ed Cunningham, and Jeannine Edwards

Radio: Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones (Play-by-play), Jack Ham (Analyst), Loren Crispell (Sideline reporter). Local: 93.7 FM, 1450 AM, Sirius Ch. 113, XM Ch. 195

Weather: Tomorrow’s weather could be problematic by the time game time rolls around. The high is 77 degrees, but thunderstorms are predicted to hit in the morning and afternoon. Penn State has released a thunderstorm evacuation plan for fans to follow in case of emergency.

Last Time They Met: In 2008, Penn State jumped to a 31-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 31-7 victory. Daryll Clark threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns, and the Nittany Lion defense held Akron to just 186 yards.

Injuries: Miles Dieffenbach (knee), Adam Breneman (knee), and Ben Kline (Achilles) are all out for the year for the Nittany Lions.
