Penn State Football: Hamilton Hopes His Work Ethic Will Stay With Receivers

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz.-- The biggest impact a player can make is sometimes not what they do on the field, but the legacy that they leave off of it with their teammates.

In the case of receiver DaeSean Hamilton it's work ethic. An endless cycle of ball work, lifting and film study. It's what made him the player he has become and what allowed him to reinvent his career as a slot receiver.

And sooner rather than later it will translate to a career at the next level, another long grind of work and effort.

"It's really exciting, counting down all actual things I have to do. My last practice today, my last life was yesterday." Hamilton said on Thursday. "I'm counting down all the last things."

After the bowl game Hamilton will head to Florida to start working out before the NFL Combine and Penn State's Pro Day. But even after he leaves Hamilton is hopeful that the example he has set will stick in the receiver's room.

"I hope guys are like that and I'm pretty sure that they will keep that kind of work ethic and mentality," Hamilton said.

"Especially guys like DeAndre and Juwan and they're going to pass that one down to the younger guys. Basically knowing that if you see the end result and if you work hard knowing what that turns into. When you start seeing that everyone is going to start to follow that course and start taking that initiative to working as hard as they can to see the results on Saturdays."

In the meanwhile Hamilton will focus on one last game for Penn State, a long and winding road since that fateful day in Dublin, Ireland when he made his debut.

And someday down the road he will miss it.

"I don't miss it yet," Hamilton said with his patented smile. "But I'm sure I will in a few weeks or months."
