Penn State Football: Linebacker Troy Reeder Reportedly Set To Transfer

by on January 12, 2016 11:25 AM

Penn State rising redshirt sophomore linebacker Troy Reeder will transfer according to Lions247. A native of the same state, Reeder will transfer to Delaware and is eligible to play immediately. Reeder’s father played for the Blue Hens and Reeder's younger brother Colby recently committed to the program.

While at Penn State, Reeder was a rising star in the linebacker ranks, starting 11 games as a redshirt freshman. Reeder would eventually take over the outside linebacker position as Jason Cabinda moved inside following an early season injury to linebacker Nyeem Wartman-White

Reeder finished fourth on the team in tackles with 67 this season and 5.5 tackles for a loss. Season highlights include multiple big hits, a team-high 11 tackles against Maryland and an interception against Illinois.

The 6-foot-1, 241-pound Reeder was selected to ESPN.com’s All-Rookie Team in the Big Ten in December.

Reeder is the second player to transfer in as many days. Receiver Geno Lewis announced his plans to transfer to Oklahoma for his senior season on Monday morning.
