Known for his flowing facial hair Penn State Assistant Director of Performance Enhancement Chuck Losey was named a master strength and conditioning coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) last week.

The honor means that Losey is now one of 186 coaches to have the MSCC title in the country, three of which are at Penn State (Losey, Dwight Galt III, Brad Pantall).

According to the association, the honor is currently the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. Losey was presented his blue MSCC jacket by Assistant Athletics Director for Performance Enhancement Dwight Galt III during a ceremony last week at the CSCCa convention in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

“This is an incredible honor for Chuck,” said CSCCa Executive Director, Dr. Chuck Stiggins in a statement . “Being named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach signifies a commitment to the student athlete, the Penn State University Athletic Program, and the strength and conditioning profession. We are honored to have Coach Losey as a member of our association and to have him join the ranks of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches. He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional.”

Losey is now in his fourth year at Penn State having spent all four with the football program. Prior to his time at Penn State, Losey had worked three years in the same role at Vanderbilt, hip alma mater. He had started 31 games at defensive end and was a four-year letter winner with the Commodores from 1998 to 2002. He was voted Vanderbilt’s MVP at defensive lineman as a senior in and won Vanderbilt’s first Iron Man competition in the overall lineman category.
