Penn State Football: Michael Dwumfour Decommits From 2016 Class

Penn State 2016 verbal commit Michael Dwumfour has changed his mind, decomitting on Monday a day after his official visit to Penn State. Dwumfour committed to Michigan later Monday afternoon.

"Happy Valley isn't where I belong," the three-star New Jersey defensive tackle announced on Monday via a Twitter statement.

"I would like to thank Coach [James] Franklin and the whole staff for giving me the opportunity to play for them," Dwumfour wrote. "Unfortunately my heart is somewhere else, and I will be decommitting from PSU. It's been fun to be a part of the family, but Happy Valley isn't where I belong."

Only a few weeks out from National Signing Day, Penn State 2016 recruiting class is down to just 17 members following Monday's news. The program hosted many recruits this past weekend on official visits but did not land any additional commitments.

While the remaining 17 players are largely expected to remain committed it is incredibly likely that the Nittany Lions will in fact lose current verbal commit and Michigan native and kicker Quinn Nordin before Signing Day on Feb. 3.

Baltimore four-star Ellison Jordan is the only defensive tackle in the 2016 class after having initially landed the services of four prospects at the DT position. Penn State parted ways with Christian Colon months ago while Philadelphia four-star Karamo Dioubate decomitted last weekend.
