Penn State Football: Nelson Likely Out For Season Per Franklin

Penn State's injury plagued season picked up another causality on Saturday as Nittany Lion right tackle Andrew Nelson will likely miss the remainder of the season according to coach James Franklin.

Rolled up on in the first-half, Nelson lay on the ground in visible pain midway through Penn State's eventual 38-14 victory over Maryland. The redshirt junior was eventually carted off the field.

“We will find out more, but we’re pretty confident in that so it doesn’t make sense for me to wait until Tuesday,” said Franklin. “We’ve had a rash of these types of injuries. I feel for Nelly. Love that kid. But we’ll be with him every step of the way.”

With Nelson out of the mix it was Paris Palmer who came in to replace him, although Palmer played left tackle as right tackle Brendan Mahon switched sides of the line to fill in for Nelson.

While no injury is a well timed one, Penn State's offensive front was slowly coming together the past few weeks. Nelson's absence will be a difficult void to fill as Penn State enters the meat of Big Ten play following the bye week.
