Former Penn State offensive lineman Mike Munchak, a longtime assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans, has been named the Titans’ next head coach, it was announced Monday afternoon and reported by NFL.com and ESPN.com.

Munchak replaces Jeff Fisher, who had coached the Titans for 16 seasons.

Munchak has been with the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans organization since he was drafted out of Penn State in 1982. He was the eighth pick overall in that year's draft.

Munchak, who played 159 regular season games and 10 playoff games for the Oilers, has been an assistant coach for the franchise since 1994, and the offensive line coach since 1997. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
