Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Add Three-Star Athlete to 2020 Mix

by on July 03, 2019 1:00 PM

Penn State's recruiting hot streak continued Wednesday morning as the Nittany Lions landed their 11th commitment in 13 days.

This time it was three-star athlete Tyler Warren out of Mechanicsville, Va., the third commitment in two days as he joins three-star corner Joseph Johnson and three-star receiver Parker Washington who both committed to the program on Tuesday night.

According to Lions247 the 6-foot-5, 224-pound Virginia native will play tight end while at Penn State. Warren had played quarterback during his career at Atlee High School but is listed by some recruiting services as simply an athlete.

Warren comes to Penn State having decommitted from Virginia Tech in May, opting to continue looking for the right fit. Penn State came out on top against the likes Syracuse, Virginia and Louisville among others.

With 19 commitments in hand, the Lions have room for at least six more pledges in the Class of 2020 and will likely look towards the tight end position again with the possibility of Pat Freiermuth not playing all four seasons of eligibility at the collegiate level. Currently a sophomore, Freiermuth would be unable to enter the NFL Draft until following his junior season.

Penn State's recruiting class continues to sit at No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 10 in the nation according to the Lions247 rankings.
