Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Come In At No. 24 In AP Poll

by on October 23, 2016 2:25 PM

For the first time since the 2011 TaxSlayer Bowl it's a Top 25 ranking for Penn State as the Nittany Lions came in at No. 24 following their upset of No. 2 ranked Ohio State on Saturday night.

Penn State's Top 25 ranking comes after the Nittany Lions' fifth win of the season. 193 points in the poll is 83 ahead of No. 25 Virginia Tech and just 14 behind No. 23 Colorado. The ranking gives the Big Ten conference five teams in the Top 25 with Michigan jumping to No. 2 in the polls as Ohio State fell four spots to No. 6 in the latest update.

The Nittany Lions now travel to Purdue and then Indiana before retuning home to face Iowa in the second to last game this season in Beaver Stadium. Rutgers will host the Nittany Lions before Penn State finishes off the season against a Michigan State team which has lost five in a row. Both the Hawkeyes and Spartans were ranked in the Top 15 at the start of the season.
