Penn State continues to rack up the defensive players of the future as linebacker Brailyn Franklin committed to Penn State publicly on Tuesday morning. According to Lions247, Franklin had committed to Penn State two weeks prior while on campus, but had yet to make the new official.

Franklin is a three-star prospect out of Haymarket, Va., and the 13th member of the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2017.

Penn State picked up Franklin's services over a final five schools that included Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Temple. On the scales Franklin weighs in at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, and he registered 18 sacks a year ago. Franklin is the No. 61 athlete nationally and the No. 25 prospect in Virginia according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Franklin is the seventh defensive player to join Penn State's 2017 recruiting haul and the fifth commitment since July 20th.
