Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Land Running Back Johnathan Thomas
Johnathan Thomas, a Maryland verbal commit, changed his mind late on Sunday and will now attend Penn State according to several recruiting outlets.
Thomas, a 5-foot-11, 215 pound running back had committed to Maryland in May. The Danvers, Mass. native had received offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Thomas is rated a three and four star prospect by several recruiting services.
For Penn State, Thomas marks the 14th verbal commitment for the 2014 class. New Jersey tight end Mike Gesicki committed to Penn State and Bill O'Brien's staff this past Thursday.
Interestingly enough, Thomas currently attends St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts, the same high school that Bill O’Brien attended. As a junior, Thomas racked up 1,947 total yards and 18 touchdowns.
