Penn State Football: Nittany Lions No. 10 in Latest Playoff Rankings

by on December 03, 2019 8:08 PM

Penn State football is sitting at No. 10 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night. The Nittany Lions are the third highest ranked team in the Big Ten just behind Wisconsin at No. 8 and Ohio State at No. 1.

This weekend the latter two teams will face each other in Indianapolis for the Big Ten championship. An Ohio State win, especially one by a wide margin against the Badgers, would likely send Penn State to the Rose Bowl.

Outside of a second trip to Pasadena in four years, Penn State could also find itself headed to the Orange Bowl with the Cotton Bowl and Outback Bowl with similar Big Ten bowl ties.

Across the conference Michigan comes in at No. 14 while Iowa sits at No. 16 and Minnesota at No. 18. Penn State's Week 2 opponent in 2020, Virginia Tech, dropped from the Top 25.

Outside the Big Ten a two-loss Alabama team slots in at No. 12, the Top 4 currently consist of Ohio State, LSU, Clemson and Georgia.
