Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Ranked No. 9 In Latest AP Poll

by on November 13, 2016 8:14 PM

After a chaotic weekend full of upsets, Penn State avoided it's own late season heartbreak and moved up one place in the AP poll to No. 9 in the nation. The newest batch of rankings were announced on Sunday afternoon. Penn State was ranked No. 10 in the latest coaches poll.

With a 45-31 win over Indiana on Saturday afternoon the Nittany Lions are suddenly on a path towards the Big Ten title game following Iowa's upset of Michigan on Saturday night. In order to make the championship Penn State would need to win its remaining games against Rutgers and Michigan State while Michigan would have to lose one of its two remaining games against Indiana or at Ohio State.

Penn State's improbable season continues this weekend on the road at Rutgers where the Nittany Lions are currently favored by 26 points.

The Nittany Lions are 8-2 on the year and have won six straight conference games, the best streak for the program since 1994.

The College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night. Penn State is No. 10 in that poll.
