Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Ranked No.7 In Latest Playoff Poll

by on November 22, 2016 7:53 PM

Penn State football is one spot higher in the college football rankings, coming in at No.7 during Tuesday night's broadcast on ESPN.

The Nittany Lions moved up from No.8 in last week's standings after defeating Rutgers this past Saturday 39-0. Penn State sits behind Wisconsin who the Nittany Lions would likely face in the Big Ten title game. Washington is one spot ahead of Wisconsin at No.5

Penn State takes on Michigan State this weekend for a 3:30 kick, if Ohio State beats Michigan and the Nittany Lions defeat the Spartans it would send Penn State to the Big Ten title game.

With Ohio State and Michigan in the Top 4, it remains to be seen how the the playoff bracket would shake out. Penn State, in this scenario, would own the conference title and a head-to-head win over a one-loss Ohio State team. That being said, analysts are unclear if the committee would favor that over a one-loss Ohio State team that has been ranked higher than Penn State the entire season.

Needless to say it's first things first with Michigan State headed to State College on Saturday.
