Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Receive Three Votes In Coaches Poll

by on October 10, 2016 2:20 PM

Penn State football's recent success over Maryland and Minnesota hasn't gone unnoticed by at least three voters in the weekly Amway Coaches Poll, the Nittany Lions picking up three votes.

The Nittany Lions haven't been ranked since the 2011 season although Penn State has made a handful of appearances in the "others receiving votes column" a few things since then. Penn State in this particular case has as many votes as Pittsburgh and Appalachian State, all three ahead of four other teams in the poll.

The Big Ten rounds out the Top 5 with Ohio State and Michigan at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively. The Nittany Lions lost to Michigan earlier this season and will face Ohio State coming out of the bye week.

Previously ranked Michigan State and Iowa are no longer in the Top 25 leaving just four Big Ten teams in the rankings, albeit all four in the Top 10.

Penn State is 4-2 and will host No. 2 ranked Ohio State in two weeks.
