Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Up To No. 12 And No. 14 In AP And Coaches Polls

Penn State's rise up the ranks continued on Sunday as the Nittany Lions landed at No.12 and No. 14 in the AP and Coaches polls respectively.

The Nittany Lions jumped eight spots in the AP Poll following their win on Saturday over Iowa. Penn State's 41-14 victory was the fifth straight for the Nittany Lions who have scored over 100 points and gained over 1,000 yards of offense in the past two contests. Penn State still owns the best win of the regular season, a 24-21 victory over then ranked No. 2 Ohio State. The Buckeyes are now ranked No. 6.

All eyes now turn to Tuesday's reveal of the College Football Playoff rankings where the Nittany Lions currently sit at No. 12. The No. 10 and No. 11 teams both lost on Saturday which could very well open the door for Penn State entering the Top 10. While unlikely the Nittany Lions are still in the hunt for the Big Ten title but would need Michigan to lose twice in order to take over the division lead.

Nevertheless it should be an intriguing final three games for Penn State as the Nittany Lions travel to face Indiana and Rutgers on the road before returning home to close out the regular season against Michigan State. Penn State ought to be favored in all three games and opened a touchdown favorite against Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
