by on October 04, 2020 1:56 PM

Despite not playing a game yet, Penn State football has jumped one spot to No. in 9 this week’s AP Top 25 Poll

The Nittany Lions climbed in the poll after two top ten teams lost this Saturday. Texas (No. 22) lost to unranked TCU while Auburn (No. 13) was taken down by Georgia (No. 3).

Several other Big Ten squads join Penn State in the ranking, including Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 16), Michigan (No. 20), and Minnesota (No. 25). Ohio State stayed put at its No. 6 spot from last week, while Clemson remains as the top-ranked team in the nation.

James Franklin’s program also climbed to No. 8 in USA Today’s Coaches Poll this week. Conference foes Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 14), and Michigan (No. 19) joined the Nittany Lions in that ranking.

Penn State held media days with coaches and players this past week. At his press conference, James Franklin confirmed that star linebacker Micah Parsons will not make a return to Happy Valley for his junior season. The Nittany Lions will kick off their reinstated season without Parsons three Saturdays from now against Indiana on October 24.
