Penn State Football: Nittany Lions With Big Addition To 2018 Class

by on August 06, 2016 11:50 AM

While the 2018 recruiting class is still very much in its infancy stages, Penn State added a key piece to the puzzle on Saturday as Monmouth Junction (N.J.) South Brunswick junior wide receiver Justin Shorter announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions.

Shorter is a 4-star prospect is the No. 69 overall prospect according to the 247 Network's composite rankings. He is also the third commitment for the 2018 recruiting haul joining a short but impressive list of commits in five-star defense end Micah Parsons and four-star offensive tackle Chris Bleich.

Penn State was in Shorter's final five schools prior to his annulment that included Pitt, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Rutgers.

Shorter's commitment all but completely ends what was nearly a three month recruiting drought for Penn State. While the only recent commitment to the 2018 class, Shorter is the sixth commit since mid July. Penn State currently has 13 commitments for the 2017 class which is ranked No. 23 in the nation and No. 5 in the Big Ten per the 247 Network.
