Penn State Football: Offensive Lineman Flips Commitment to Northwestern

by on August 10, 2018 6:54 PM

Penn State saw it first decommitment of the 2019 recruiting cycle on Friday afternoon when three-star offensive tackle Zachary Franks flipped his pledge to Northwestern.

Franks originally committed to the Nittany Lions just over a week ago, on Aug. 2. Northwestern was among the final programs he was choosing from at the time.

With Franks no longer in the fold, Penn State's 2019 class is back down to 15 members, including three offensive linemen — four-star prospects Anthony Whigan, Saleem Wormley, and Caedan Wallace. Of those three, only Whigan is listed as a tackle, the position Franks plays at Gilman School in Baltimore.

Penn State recruiting class is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation by 247 Sports, dropping two spots after the loss of Franks.
