Penn State Football: Pitt Game Sold Out

by on August 14, 2018 12:40 PM

Penn State's highly anticipated September 8 meeting against Pitt at Heinz Field is sold out the Panthers announced on Tuesday morning. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. and will air nationally on ABC.

When Pitt and Penn State resumed their series in 2016, the game attracted the largest crowd to watch a sporting event in Pittsburgh history with 69,983 fans packing the stands. While that game was announced as a sell out as well, it wouldn't be a surprise if a primetime event and a much improved Penn State team led to an even higher total.

Tickets on the secondary market are currently selling on StubHub for well over $100 in most cases.

The Pitt game is just one of many early season tests for a Penn State team that is slated to travel to Illinois for a Friday contest as well as play Ohio State at the end of September. Much will be learned about this team in the opening month of the season, and the early leader of the Big Ten East race will be decided then as well.

But much like in 2016, the last time Penn State travel to Pittsburgh, it's how the season ends, not how it begins that can make all the difference.
