Penn State Football: Pry Reportedly In Running For Louisiana-Lafayette Job

by on December 06, 2017 3:10 PM

With offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead already out the door, defensive coordinator Brent Pry might not be far behind.

First reported by Jeff Horchak and later confirmed by Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, Pry is one of the three candidates for the Louisiana-Lafayette head coaching vacancy. Pry served on the staff at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2002-06 in various roles including defensive coordinator.

This isn't the first time Pry has gotten head coaching notice, Georgia Southern interviewed Pry in 2015 while Pry served under Bob Shoop on Penn State's staff.

According to Horchak, Pry is in the running for the job as well as LSU OC Matt Canada, and former Florida OC Doug Nussmeier.

It's unknown how quickly the search will move or if Penn State will counter with a raise for Pry.

Aside from Moorhead, Penn State has already lost running backs and special teams coach Charles Huff who followed Moorhead to Mississippi State. In response, Penn State promoted tight ends coach Ricky Rahne to offensive coordinator.

James Franklin is slated to speak to the media for bowl media day on December 15.
