Penn State Football: Quarterback Tyler Ferguson Set To Transfer
Penn State has confirmed that quarterback Tyler Ferguson has been granted his release and will transfer following the completion of the semester at Penn State. The news was first reported by Lions247.
The sophomore and California native was a backup to Christian Hackenberg and was on campus for only one season. Ferguson saw limited action this year but completed 10-of-15 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Ferguson is the second quarterback to transfer this season. Sophomore Steven Bench was unable to make any significant headway over Ferguson in spring practice. Following the Blue White game Bench opted to transfer rather than risk time on the bench behind the incoming Hackenberg.
Hackenberg and freshman run-ons D.J. Crook, Austin Whipple and Jack Seymour are the remaining quarterbacks on Penn State's roster. D.J Crook will likely take over the back up duties behind Hackenberg until this January when incoming four-star freshman Michael O'Connor arrives on campus.
