Penn State Football Sells Out Season Ticket Packages For First Time Since 2008

For the first time since 2008 Penn State football has sold out its season ticket packages the program announced on Wednesday.

In total, Penn State has sold more than 9,000 new season football tickets with a season ticket renewal rate topping 95 percent. Single game tickets are still available for Akron, Georgia State, Indiana, Rutgers and Nebraska games.

The Michigan and Pitt games are not yet officially a sellout, although the only tickets remaining are allocated for visiting teams. Unused tickets from that allocation would eventually go on sale to the general public in some fashion.

The Nittany Lions’ home schedule features three non-conference games, including Pitt’s first visit to Beaver Stadium since 1999. The Nittany Lions open the season against Akron (Sept. 2; noon) and face Pitt (Sept. 9; 3:30 p.m.) and Georgia State (Sept. 16; 7:30 p.m.) in a three-game homestand to start the year. In Big Ten play, Penn State welcomes Indiana (Sept. 30), Michigan (Oct. 21), Rutgers (Nov. 11; noon - Homecoming) and Nebraska (Nov. 18) to Happy Valley.

Penn State finished the 2016 season seventh nationally in attendance, averaging 100,257 fans per game according to the NCAA.
