Redshirt junior wide receiver Shawney Kersey has left the team for personal reasons, a college football source confirmed Tuesday night.

Penn State coach Bill O'Brien officially announced the decision Wednesday. It was first reported by the Penn State football website Lions247.

Kersey, the 6-foot-1, 197-pounder from Woodbury, N.J. was Penn State's most experienced returning receiver entering the year and grabbed six catches this season for 44 yards.
