Penn State Football: Zettel To Use Combine Performance To Raise Money For Disease Research

by on February 22, 2016 2:00 PM

Former Penn State defensive tackle Anthony Zettel will make his performance at the upcoming NFL Combine worth a little bit more as he is set to partner with Uplifting Athletes to raise money in support of the rare disease community.

Fans can pledge to donate for every bench press repetition Zettel performs at the upcoming NFL Combine by visiting

Zettel, an Uplifting Athletes Letterman, served as part of the leadership team for the Penn State Chapter and participated in Lift For Life each summer he was on campus. Fellow Nittany Lion and Pittsburgh Steeler tight end Jesse James raised over $5,000 last year in the same event.

The Penn State Chapter has raised more than $1 million for Uplifting Athletes to support kidney cancer research and benefit the rare disease community.

Uplifting Athletes inspires the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport and empowers medical researchers to find cures. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and consequently lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments.

Founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes has college football student-athlete led chapters nationwide in FBS and FCS programs including half the schools in the Big Ten and ACC conferences.
