Forward James Robinson will wear the C this season for Penn State hockey as the fifth captain in the Division I program's history. Erik Autio and Chase Berger will each act as alternate captains alongside their senior counterpart. The news was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Robinson enters the 2017-18 campaign one of the most respected players in the locker room, in 2016 he played in 26 games and registered four points. His sophomore season the year prior was cut short following a season ending injury on the first shift of the year.

Autio and Berger fill out the trio having contributed plenty of key moments on each end of the ice. Autio's game winner against Minnesota in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament helped the Nittany Lions make the NCAA Tournament. While in the postseason Berger scored twice and added an assist in Penn State's 10-3 win over Union.

Both Autio and Berger appeared in all 39 games during the 2016-17 season and combined for 54 total points.

Penn State hits the ice for an exhibition game on Oct. 1 before opening the season Friday Oct. 6 at Clarkson.
