Penn State Hockey: Bailey Professional Career Continues With Senators

Penn State's all-time leading goal scorer is continuing his professional journey with the Ottawa Senators' AHL-affilliate the Binghamton Senators the club announced this week. Bailey was one of five players to sign one-year, two-way contracts during a busy NHL offseason so far.

Bailey, originally signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs following his junior season at Penn State, was traded to the Senators last season but did not see any playing time at the NHL level. Bailey appeared in 30 games, scoring 7 goals and picking up 14 assists.

"It's a big year to prove myself," Bailey told local TV station WBNG. "I think I could show that I could possibly be an NHL player, or a very successful AHL player. And I think the reason for the one-way is so I can go out their to prove myself and maybe earn something more the following year. You know there are opportunities within the organization and I am ready to get after it."

While at Penn State, Bailey scored 22 goals during his junior campaign and totaled 40 points to lead the Nittany Lions. Bailey is Penn State's all-time leading goal scorer with 45 and his single season mark of 22 goals is a program best as well. Bailey also led the NCAA with 211 shots during his final season in the blue and white.

Penn State opens the season October. 6 against St Lawrence.
