Penn State Hockey: Following Big Season Gadowsky Lands Contract Changes

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Penn State director of athletics Sandy Barbour confirmed to on Tuesday afternoon that men's hockey coach Guy Gadowsky's contract has been "amended" following a Big Ten Tournament title season and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament bid.

Barbour wouldn't comment on the nature of the changes, although heavily implied those modifications included an extension. Those completed talks concluded earlier this year but were never announced publicly.

Gadowsky is set to enter his sixth season at Penn State having compiled a 85-80-12 record and was awarded the Big Ten Coach of The Year following the 2014-15 season. Penn State finished the 2016-17 season with a 24-11-2 record including a 10-3 victory over Union before falling to No. 1 overall seed and eventual national champion Denver, 6-3, in the regional finals.

Penn State never released the initial terms of Gadowsky's deal when hired. Across the Big Ten the coaching carousel has been fairly quiet as Michigan State parted ways with Tom Anastos while Wisconsin recently extended Tony Granato though the 2021-22 season.
