Penn State Hockey: McAdam Earns Big Ten Second Star Of The Week

by on January 19, 2016 2:00 PM

Penn State men’s hockey junior goaltender Eamon McAdam was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week on Tuesday morning by the conference office. McAdam improved to 9-2-0 this season behind a 39-save, one-assist performance on Saturday vs. Wisconsin.

The award is McAdam's second of the season and third career weekly accolade of his career. McAdam missed his regularly scheduled start on Friday due to injury and returned Saturday to make at least 12 saves in every period of play.

McAdam also registered just the second goalie assist in PSU history on the final goal of the game. He now has two career collegiate points. McAdam's 1.00 GAA was best in the Big Ten as was his .975 save percentage this week. For the season, McAdam leads the Big Ten in save percentage (.932) and GAA (2.18).

McAdam is one of seven different Nittany Lion to earn weekly plaudits from the Big Ten. Over the past two seasons, Penn State has received 18 weekly laurels, 10 of which came during 2014-15 and eight this season. This week’s other two stars are Michigan’s Tyler Motte (4g, 3a) and Mason Jobst (2g, 5a) of Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions, who continue to be ranked in both national polls at No. 14, return to action on Friday and Saturday for road games at Ohio State. Both games are set for 7 p.m. puck drops with BTN Plus ($) covering the live streaming.
