What it Means: Nittany Lions split a series against some of the nation's top young talent. While the results won't count toward the regular season numbers, it was a solid weekend performance for the fledgling program.

Second Intermission Update: U18 1, Penn State 0
It took almost 18 minutes, but the scoreless tie was broken as the United States took a 1-0 lead for the second night in a row following a Sean Malone tally as he jumped on a rebound in front of a wide open net.
The Nittany Lions out-shot the United States, 15-11 in the second period but still trailed in the total count, 30-19.
The chances have been there for Penn State, but striking out on all four power plays kept the game scoreless. Penn State's Taylor Holstrom picked up a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct less than 10 minutes into the period. The penalty was away from the play, and as no visible physical altercation took place, it was likely language related.
First Intermission Update: Penn State 0, U18 0
The Nittany Lions were outshot 19-4 in the opening period as Penn State found itself shorthanded for most of the first ten minutes of Saturday night's game.
Penn State committed five penalties in the opening ten minutes of play but was able to fend off another swarming attack by the United States. Goaltender PJ Musico looked strong in net, making several strong stops during what was essentially a ten minute power play for the United States.
Demko Thatcher was back in the net for the United States after playing a strong game, despite a 5-2 loss on Friday night. Thatcher made four saves during the opening stanza but was never really challenged.
