Penn State Hockey: Nittany Lions Set To Face Robert Morris
Penn State and Robert Morris will take the ice for the second time this season as the Nittany Lions look to win their first game of the Three Rivers Classic.
In the first meeting between the two teams, Penn State won a hard fought battle 5-4 on the road picking up an all-important victory. Since that meeting, Robert Morris has gone 1-5-2 for a season total of 2-10-2 on the year. Penn State on the other hand has not won since the November 1 meeting, falling to former No. 1 UMass-Lowell and ranked opponents in Union and Wisconsin.
While Penn State's record may not show improvement, the Nittany Lions are coming off of a 4-3 loss to Wisconsin in a game head coach Guy Gadowsky considered to be Penn State's best all season.
"I'm so pumped about how we played Saturday [against Wisconsin,]" Gadowsky said. " I'm really excited about it and I feel really good with how we've played [in the first half of the season.]"
Penn State will get a chance to get back on the winning side of things today and again tomorrow as the Nittany Lions will face the winner or loser of the Boston College/Bowling Green game depending on the result of Penn State's game againsst Robert Morris.
"I think they really had a great experience last year because of the venue itself," Head coach Guy Gadowsky said of the tournament at CONSOL. "That was our first marquee win; the first time we played a Big Ten opponent and came away with a win. We had great experiences. Anytime you play in a NHL rink, and any times you play in front of great Penn State fans, it's special. Everyone is looking forward to the support of our great fan base and alumni."
